Welcome to Gothic Heights Inn. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website and services. By making a reservation or using our services, you agree to these Terms.

1. Reservations and Booking

1.1 Booking Confirmation

All reservations are subject to availability and confirmation. A reservation is only confirmed when you receive an email confirmation from Gothic Heights Inn.

1.2 Payment

  • 50% deposit required at the time of booking unless otherwise specified
  • Full payment is collected at the end of the cancellation/refund period before check-in.
  • We only accept major credit cards as payment.
  • All rates are quoted in US Dollars and include applicable taxes unless otherwise noted.

1.3 Minimum Age

Guests must be at least 21 years of age to make a reservation and check in.

2. Cancellation and Refund Policy

2.1 Standard Cancellation

  • Full refund will be made if notice of cancellation is given at least 10 days prior to arrival.
  • For cancellations made after the required deadline a refund, less a $65.00 service charge, will be made IF we are able to re-book the accommodations.

2.2 Special Events and Peak Periods

During special events, holidays, or peak periods, stricter cancellation policies may apply and will be communicated at the time of booking.

2.3 Force Majeure

In cases of extreme weather, natural disasters, or other circumstances beyond our control, alternative arrangements or refunds may be provided at our discretion.

3. Check-in and Check-out

3.1 Check-in Time

Standard check-in time is 3:00 PM. Early check-in may be available upon request and subject to availability.

3.2 Check-out Time

Check-out time is 11:00 AM. Late check-out may be available upon request and may incur additional charges.

3.3 Identification

Valid government-issued photo identification is required at check-in.

4. Guest Conduct and Property Rules

4.1 Quiet Hours

Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Guests are expected to respect other guests and maintain reasonable noise levels.

4.2 Smoking Policy

Gothic Heights Inn is a non-smoking property. Smoking is prohibited in all guest rooms and indoor common areas.

4.3 Pets

Pets are not allowed on property as we are a small 4 bedroom Inn where we live on site. Our building is made of natural wood materials that are not pet friendly and can be easily damaged.

4.4 Maximum Occupancy

Guest rooms have maximum occupancy limits of 2 adults that must not be exceeded.

4.5 Prohibited Activities

  • Illegal activities of any kind
  • Disturbing other guests
  • Damage to property
  • Unauthorized parties or events

5. Liability and Damages

5.1 Guest Responsibility

Guests are responsible for any damage to the property caused during their stay. Repair or replacement costs will be charged to the guest’s payment method.

5.2 Personal Property

Gothic Heights Inn is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.

5.3 Limitation of Liability

Our liability is limited to the amount paid for your reservation. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

6. Privacy and Data Protection

6.1 Information Collection

We collect personal information necessary to provide our services, including name, contact information, and payment details.

6.2 Information Use

Personal information is used to process reservations, provide services, and communicate with guests. We do not sell personal information to third parties.

6.3 Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect personal information.

7. Website Use

7.1 Intellectual Property

All content on our website, including text, images, logos, and design, is owned by Gothic Heights Inn and protected by copyright and trademark laws.

7.2 Permitted Use

You may use our website for personal, non-commercial purposes related to making reservations and learning about our services.

7.3 Prohibited Use

  • Copying or reproducing website content without permission
  • Using automated systems to access the website
  • Attempting to disrupt website functionality

8. Modifications and Updates

8.1 Terms Changes

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on our website with a new effective date.

8.2 Service Changes

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue services with reasonable notice.

10. SMS messaging policy:

  • During booking, you may be asked to opt-in to receive check-in instructions via SMS. This is optional and may be cancelled at any time.
  • You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text “STOP” to the short code. After you send the SMS message “STOP” to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.
  • If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly at {support email address or toll-free number}.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages
  • always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. You will receive {message frequency}. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of St. Louis County, Missouri.

Frequent Questions

The Inn is a church? Is everything super religious?

The Inn was originally a Methodist church. The congregation sold it to a private party in 2004 where it began the restoration and conversion from a church to an Inn. While the building has a rich history, it is now a secular space. The Inn is a place for all to enjoy, regardless of religious beliefs. We welcome everyone!

Is my room private?

Yes! Each room has it's own entrance with a lock and door code that is only for you. Your en-suite bathroom is attached to your room and is only for your use. Like a hotel, there is a main entrance to the Inn and common areas like the kitchen, garden, library, lounges and social spaces.

Is everything old and creepy?

Absolutely not! While the building may have historical roots, it has undergone a thoughtful refurbishment, blending modern conveniences with its unique charm and beauty. The Inn is a warm, inviting space with comfortable furnishings and luxury amenities. The building is well-lit and secure, and the neighborhood is safe and walkable.

Why is it named Gothic Heights?

We wanted to honor the unique Gothic architecture of the building and highlight the "heights" of the space including the tall ceilings, arched doorways and roof-top hot tub. Additionally we're located in the Clifton Heights neighborhood.

Are there shared spaces?

The main sanctuary area boasts a spacious shared kitchen, a dining area, multiple cozy sitting and reading spaces, and designated TV areas. Additionally, guests can unwind at the large bar for morning coffee or evening happy hour, enjoy a board game or chess in the lounge, and relax in the outdoor garden. For those seeking ultimate relaxation, there's also an outdoor patio and a rooftop hot tub, ensuring every guest finds their perfect spot to unwind and enjoy their stay.

Does someone live on-site?

Yes! The inn is our home, and we live on the lower level (below ground) of the property with our twin boys and our 2 dogs. We are available to assist you with anything you need during your stay, but we also respect your privacy and space so you may not even see or hear us for your entire stay. We are available via text or phone if you need anything.

Do all rooms have access the Rooftop Hot Tub?

Yes! The Rooftop is available to all guests. You can catch a beautiful sunset or 360 views of the city including the Gateway Arch. It's even better at night. The hot tub is open from 3pm to 11pm daily. The rooftop is a great place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the city.

Can I rent the entire Inn?

We have a special rate to rent the entire space. If you rent the entire Inn a 5th bedroom is available, bringing the total number of sleeping arrangements to 10.
